LEDESTM-Enabled XML 2.0 Support Available for CT TyMetrix 360°
According to the LEDES Oversight Globalisation Sub-Committee, the LEDES file formats are "intended to serve as a standard file format to be used in the legal industry for the electronic exchange of information." With the addition of LEDES-Enabled XML 2.0, CT TyMetrix is poised to help corporate legal and insurance claims departments better handle their globally-dispersed operations and law firm relationships. Taxes on legal services-Indirect taxes-are common outside of the Unites States. This latest XML-based LEDES standard will make it easier for legal and claims departments to track and analyse their global legal spend.
CT TyMetrix 360º gives customers the only way to support a truly global operation; accepting invoices in virtually any currency and allowing users to act on those invoices in either the native or user preferred currency. Users can easily toggle between their local currency or the invoice native currency during review, providing the flexibility to allow a law firm to submit an invoice in Yen, for example, and the invoice recipient to review it either in Yen or a preferred currency, such as Pounds. With today's announcement, the CT TyMetrix 360º platform can better address both client and vendor needs to comply with local tax laws. The incorporation of the LEDES XML 2.0 standard into CT TyMetrix 360º will allow law firms to submit invoices in three different methods: secure Web, email and manual.
Keith Brown, director of product management at CT TyMetrix and chair of the LEDES Oversight Globalisation Sub-Committee notes, "We've also included client-configurable tax rules in our invoice testing rules engine that scrutinise invoices based on tax-centric criteria. These rules are as important to our globalisation effort as is the adoption of the XML 2.0 standard, allowing clients and law firms to comply with local tax regulations. CT TyMetrix's inclusion of XML 2.0 will allow corporate legal and claims professionals, as well as law firms to be in compliance with local audit procedures."
"Business globalisation is no longer something to prepare for in the future-it's here now," said John Weber, general manager of CT TyMetrix. "Our customers need seamless technologies and tools to help them operate in their global environments. Our solutions are leading the way in addressing these new challenges: We released our global currency capabilities earlier this year, were chosen to provide a wholly integrated e-billing and matter management solution for European-based British Petroleum, and with today's announcement are now well positioned to enter 2007 offering our customers numerous opportunities to handle their increasingly global needs."
CT TyMetrix is actively engaged in improving the standards that govern the industry. In addition to Brown, CT TyMetrix has several employees in various LEDES committees and sub-committees, and also is a member of the Association for Corporate Counsel (ACC). The company is also participating in several European legal roundtables.
